The Manchester Magic were second best to Hemel Storm in the National Cup Final at the University of East London Sports Dock on Sunday where they lost 94-77.

Magic came out the blocks strong with a 31-11 first quarter, the Storm fought back to make it 47-45 at the half, a slender lead for the Magic.

It took a third quarter burst from the Storm to open up the contest in Hemel's favour, building an eleven point lead by the end of the period 70-59. The Magic's struggles to contain the Strom continued in the final stanza, where the Storm continued to dominate proceedings to be crowned National Cup Champions.

Magic were led by Stefan Gill with 24 points, with Michael Anumba chipping in 17 points and 4 assists, Donte Gittens had 15 points 7 rebounds 3 assists, 3 blocks, Lee Goldsbrough had 8 points, 6 rebound and 4 assists, and Richard Bell on debut had 4 points and 6 rebounds.

Up next for the Magic is the National Trophy Semi Final against Team Northumbria on Sunday 28th January at 5:00pm at the Amaechi Basketball Centre.

Manchester Mystics faced a road trip to the North East to go up against winless Durham Palatinates, they came home with a 68-48 victory, to move up to 4th in WBBL table.

The Mystics were led by Georgia Jones' 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals, followed closely by Lauren Thomas-Johnson's 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals (earning her a place on the bench of the WBBL All-Star 5 for Week 14). Rheanne Bailey had 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Samantha Roscoe had 11 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks.

The next game for the Mystics will be on Saturday 27th January at Cardiff Met Archers at 2:45pm.

Manchester Magic 2 continued their winning streak with a 7368 victory at Barrow Thorns.

Magic U18 had a 93-52 road victory at Cheshire Wire.

Magic U16 continued to pile on the points with a 121-44 win over City of Birmingham. Trafford U16 couldn't quite do enough to get past Sheffield Junior Sharks, who hit a game winning 3 on the buzzer to make the score 85-83.

Mystics U16 beat Oaklands College Wolves 56-40 at home on Sunday, having fallen agonisingly short on with a 68-66 road defeat at Ipswich on Saturday. Mystics U18 lost 62-71 to local rivals Myerscough College Spinners.

Magic U14 handed a 92-36 pounding to Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Junior Sharks. Magic 2 U14 picked up a 73-54 away victory at West Lancs Warriors. Magic 3 U14 earned a 74-40 victory against local rivals Stockport Falcons 2.

Mystics U14 took their winning streak to 8-0 with an 83-35 road win at Tameside Royals.
