Saturday 17th November

Magic Seniors 67-111 Loughborough Riders

Magic Seniors moved to 1-5 in the NBL Division One after a crushing loss at home against the young Loughborough Riders on Saturday evening.

Magic were led by Josh Houghton (15 points including 4/5 3 point field goals, 2 rebounds and an assist), with support from Jonathan Barnes (13 points, 10 rebounds and a block), Malachi Boakyo-Yiadom (10 points, 4 rebounds, an assist and a steal), Ali Sbai (8 points, 5 rebounds and a steal) and Loick Pouale (6 points, 6 rebounds and an assist).

Highlights

Magic Head Coach Aurimas Verbukas commneted on the loss: "Saturday's game is one I would like to forget as soon as possible.

"I support all players and understand that there are some frustrations because of the heavy loss; we are in the process of rebuilding.

"I am 100% in support and behind of all players and if there is anyone to blame, that please let that person be me and not the players.

"The positives from the game are a 17-year-old Malachi Boakye-Yiadom playing 22 minutes and scoring 10 points, which is great for his development."

Great Britain Women 79-77 Greece

Great Britain Women kept their hopes of qualifying for this summer's EuroBasket after beating Greece at the National Basketball Performance Centre on Saturday evening.

Mystics' Georgia Jones had 16 points, shooting 4 from 6 from behind the 3 point line, a rebound and 3 assists to help Great Britain to victory.

Great Britain now have a crucial game against Portugal on Wednesday evening, again at Belle Vue, where if Great Britain win they will qualify for EuroBasket, there are still tickets available for the game, so if you can, get yourselves down there!

City of Leeds 62-72 Magic U18

Magic U18 moved to 4-1 in the Premier North after hard-fought victory on the road at City of Leeds on Saturday afternoon.

Trafford U16 59-53 Manchester Giants

Trafford U16 moved to 4-2 in the Premier North after a closely-fought victory at home to in-city rivals Manchester Giants on Saturday afternoon.

Ipswich 59-70 Mystics U16

Mystics U16 moved to 5-1 in the Premier North after a flourishing victory on the road at Ipswich on Saturday afternoon.

Mystics 2 U16 45-38 Lancashire Spinners

Mystics 2 U16 moved to 3-3 in the North League after a low-scoring yet closely-fought victory at home to local rivals Lancashire Spinners on Saturday afternoon.

Stockport Falcons 81-19 Magic 3 U14

Magic 3 U14 moved to 3-5 in the North West 2 League after a severe loss on the road at local-rivals Stockport Falcons on Saturday afternoon.

Essex Leopards 87-76 Magic Seniors National Cup Quarter Final

Magic Seniors dream National Cup run came to an end at the Quarter Finals stage after loss on the road at Essex Leopards on Sunday evening.

Magic were led by Jonathan Barnes (15 points, 19 rebounds (14 Defensive), an assist and 3 blocks), with support from Andre Gayle (25 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal), Loick Pouale (16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal) and Kayin Darbey (10 points and 4 rebounds).

Magic Head Coach Aurimas Verbukas commented on the game: "Due to illness and personal reasons we travelled to Essex for our National Cup Quarter Final with 8 players.

"I am proud of the effort and team spirit; every single player contributed and represented the Magic well.

"A 24-11 second quarter ultimately cost us a game, but we only lost one quarter and were only 6 points down with 5 minutes left.

"We were shorthanded, but played with big hearts and we fought for the MAGIC name.

"We have had some good performances this season and I am sure with more time there will be more.

"We will regroup and go at it again this weekend in training and the two games at the weekend."

Up next for the Magic Seniors is a home against Thames Valley Cavaliers on Saturday 24th November at 6:30pm, followed by an away game at Barking Abbey on Sunday 25th November at 4:00pm.

The following weekend Magic have an away game at Derby Trailblazers on Saturday 1st December at 7:15pm and the weekend after a home game against Worthing Thunder on Saturday 8th December at 6:30pm.

Myerscough College 93-51 Magic U18

Magic U18 moved to 4-2 in the North League after tough loss on the road at Myerscough College on Sunday afternoon.

Up next for Mystics U18 is an away game against Newcastle Eagles on Saturday 24th November at 4:00pm.

Magic U16 85-27 City of Leeds (Abandoned)

Magic U16 game against City of Leeds was abandoned, in the fourth quarter, due to the Leeds coach picking up two technical fouls leaving the team without a coach, which meant the game had to be abandoned. At this point we don't know whether the result will stand or the game needing to be replayed, this will be decided by Basketball England.

Leicester Riders 43-112 Magic U14

Magic U14 moved to 6-1 in the Premier North after an emphatic victory on the road against Leicester Riders on Sunday afternoon.
