Academy Update 5

  Thursday, December 06, 2018

Manchester Magic Academy secured a 10 point win with a 45-55 road victory over The Sheffield College.

This first quarter was a close affair, with the visitors holding a narrow 10-11 advantage, as both teams played solid defence. A dominant second period from Manchester turned out to be the difference between the two teams as they held Sheffield to just five points in the period, heading into half-time with a 16-27 lead.

The second half was very competitive as Sheffield were able to close the gap to just two points, but were unable to sustain the effort down the stretch, eventually losing by 10 points.

Josh Grant finished with a game-high 19 points to pace Manchester, whilst JJ Wright led the hosts with 17.

Next week sees both teams with away fixtures in the Last 16 of the AoC Sport Premier Cup, as Sheffield pay a visit to Derby Trailblazers Academy, while Manchester travel to North West rivals Myercough College.
